UK consumers erupt with volcano complaints

One of the first big tests of the UK ECC’s ability to help large number of UK consumers in a short space of time was when Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajökul erupted, sending a plume of volcanic ash high into the sky and disrupting hundreds of consumers’ flights. An increase of 82% more UK consumers brought their transport complaints to us in 2010 than in 2009, as a result of the volcanic ash crisis.

It was our third full year of operation and it was a great achievement for the UK ECC to be the network’s busiest centre in 2010, handling a total of more than 8,000 cases – around 2,000 more than the next busiest ECC.
