Eifion Huws, a much-loved part of the Trading Standards family, sadly passed away on 10 June at the age of 63.

Eifion worked for Gwynedd Trading Standards in Caernarfon from April 1978 until leaving in October 2014. During this time he qualified as a Weights and Measures Inspector and developed the calibration lab in Gwynedd.

He joined the Isle of Anglesey County Council in 2016, where he specialised in weights and measures, petroleum and explosives and animal health. Eifion became a Chartered Trading Standards Practitioner in 2019.

He was a great mentor to his colleagues and his quiet, friendly and supportive personality endeared him to all.

Outside of work Eifion had a keen interest in cycling, football and he was an accomplished musician. For many years he played the fanfares for ceremonies on the National Eisteddfod of Wales stage and was a competitive Brass Band member.

Eifion, whose funeral was held at Bangor Crematorium on 24 June, was the beloved husband of Sian, and father and father-in-law of Alaw and Matt, Urien and Lois, Nidian and Ceri. He was also a much-loved grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle, as well as being a friend to many.

Eifion was a good friend I had the privilege to work with at Gwynedd Trading Standards. He was a consummate professional, knowledgeable and able. Well respected locally and within the service. He was always willing to help others. Sadly missed.
