The Home Insulation and Energy Systems Quality Assured Contractors Scheme (HIES) has this month reached the five-year milestone as an approved consumer code by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) Consumer Codes Approved Scheme.
HEIS offers consumers protection when they have renewable energy or insulation products installed in their homes, including comprehensive insurance-backed guarantees and mediation services.
According to Ciarán Harkin, HIES Managing Director, “We are so proud to be celebrating five years as an approved consumer code and be a part of the CCAS family. CTSI really do go above and beyond consumer law obligations to set a higher standard.”
Leon Livermore, Chartered Trading Standards Institute Chief Executive, commented: “Renewable energy is our future, and its installation in households grows with every year. The work undertaken by HIES over the past five years since achieving Consumer Code status has improved the renewable energy sector for consumers, helping to increase confidence in it and support the take-up of renewables.

The Consumer Codes Approval Scheme (CCAS) aims to improve customer service standards and promote consumer interests by setting out the principles of effective customer service and protection.
All HIES members have the additional benefit of being able to use the CTSI Approved Code logo, providing consumers with confidence and a clear indication of high standards of service and reliability.
